Does your family dig the outdoors? This summer, head to the forest, and learn how to step up your survival skills and shelter building.

Sherwood Pines Forest Park is hosting a whole summer of Bushcraft for Families. So if your budding Bear Grylls wants to try their hand at forest craft, shelter building or even fire lighting, join the Sherwood Rangers and have some forest fun. If you have a mini Attenborough, there will be everything from forest pond bugs and beasties to fungi and folklore for teens.

 

14th July. Tree ID. 11am - 3:30pm. Learn how to identify our common trees - a must for those interested in identifying fungi. Learn the fascinating uses of trees and their folklore. £25. Not suitable for under 12s.

 

25th July, 17th and 21st August Bushcraft for Families. 10am - 3pm. Join the rangers for a day of

bushcraft activities. Learn shelter building and fire lighting techniques and have a go at a forest craft. £12.50 per person. Children must be 6+

 

Every Tuesday morning through August. 7th, 14th , 21st and 28th August.

Summer Holiday Fun - Shelter Building. 10am - 12noon. Can you build a shelter out of just forest materials? Join the rangers to have a go. £5 per person. Children must be 5+

 

Every Tuesday afternoon through August. 7th, 14th , 21st and 28th August. Summer Holiday Fun - Pond Dipping. 1pm - 3pm. Ever wondered what lives in the forest ponds? Join the rangers to find out more about the bugs and beasties of the not so deep. Children must be 5+

23rd - 24th August. Overnight Bushcraft for Families. 4pm - 10am. Think you can survive a night in the woods? Join the rangers at Sherwood Pines to find out. Build you own shelter to sleep in using forest materials, learn some fire lighting techniques and cook your dinner on the open fire. Dinner and breakfast provided - you just need to bring a sleeping bag. £40 per person.Children must be 8+.  Visit www.forestry.gov.uk for more information.
