The Big Bash for Little People

Dip your foot in the festival pool and explore LolliBop - an imaginative fun festival especially for Under 10 year olds, and you won’t even have to put up a tent!

Lollibop Festival Regents Park London August 5th - 7th

Wanting to introduce your young family to one of summer’s large festivals can be daunting, so the LolliBop Festival (held at Regent’s Park, London from 5th to 7th August) is a perfect place to start. With advance tickets starting at £23 online, you can save more if you get more of your family and friends to join in the fun and go as a group. Advance group tickets of 25 or more work out at £18 per person, 1 year olds and under are free.

LolliBop Festival supports a charity each year and this year’s charity is Oxfam. Zoe Ball will be among the special guests working their magic in the Oxfam tent, so be sure to pop in and see what they are up to.

Among the many children’s favourite characters that will be there are; Charlie and Lola, Rastamouse and ZingZillas. Roald Dahl’s Museum and Storytelling Centre will bring the Twits to share their story and for the young historian or scientist in the family, Horrible Histories and the Science Museum will be joining in the fun too.  There will be plenty of activities to keep little hands busy at the craft market, everything from puppets and crowns to jumping clay! The Enchanted Forest will capture your child’s imagination with creatures, fairies and wizards and Lollibook storytellers will bring books to life.  Bubble Zone makes playing with bubbles extraordinary or your children could learn a new Lolli-sport to teach their friends when they get home.  And if your family works up an appetite bopping away to the fabulous music at LolliBop Festival(check out the beach disco or Itsy Bitsy Strictly’s dance workshops), there are plenty of tempting foods to try. Every taste is catered for and child size portions are available.

Lollibop Festival London 5-7 August 2011

It takes a little preparation to help make sure that everyone enjoys the day at LolliBop, so here are a few tips to help you manage the magical experience.

  • Plan ahead, check out the LolliBop Festival website to plan your route and also get an idea of what activities your family won’t want to miss. Let each child pick out one or two “must sees or do” and then take the rest of the time as it comes.  Download the full programme of events at Lollipop Festival’s website. Click here.
  • Be aware of how much your child can cope with. If your child loves physical activities then they will want to be moving around for most of the day. If they prefer creating crafty masterpieces then allow for extra time at Imagination Station.
  • Wear layers and comfy shoes.  It’s a long day out so prepare by dressing everyone in layers (and not their most expensive outfits) remember the plan is to have fun, not to worry about spills and stains.
  • Have a budget. Always have a little extra money for emergencies but otherwise, have a plan of how much your family can afford and stick to it.
  • Don’t forget the camera! There will be so much to see, to try out and enjoy that you will want to have a few memories caught on camera of such a great day out.
