Whether wellie walks are regularly on your family’s activities list, or you’re taking those first woodland steps with your new family, Kideeko was delighted to discover that the Woodland Trust’s Nature Detective team has created the perfect pack to put the great outdoors into your family’s summer plans.
The Big Summer Challenge comes complete with an Adventure passport to fill out, and is packed with free ideas for places to visit and what to spot when you get there. We can’t wait to start ticking the boxes and top of our list is “feel mud between toes!” The free pack can be downloaded from the Woodland Trust’s Nature Detectives website. Visit www.naturedetectives.org.uk to explore more.
The summer holidays are also the perfect time to think about joining the fantastic Club at Nature Detectives (which is only £12 for a whole year’s worth of outdoor activities and ideas for outdoor adventures.)
To get your Nature Detective started, they will receive a wonderful welcome pack, which includes a giant challenge poster complete with 52 stickers. There are weekly wildlife challenges each Friday to make sure that the budding nature detective's weekend is full of fresh air and fun. The Club also has competitions and will send out special seasonal activity packs! Being activie outdoors and exploring nature is a perfect way to encourage learning when the classroom is closed!
Kideeko Top Tip:
If you have more than one child you can save money when you join the Nature Detectives by choosing the household membership, which is only £20 a year! The Nature Detective Club membership is such great value it would make a perfect gift (grandparents might love giving this!)
Is your family inspired by the Nature Detectives to pack up a picnic and head to the woods but you're not sure which woodland to visit first? Go to www.visitwoods.org.uk to find the perfect woodland for your family. And don’t forget to send the Nature Detective's team (Danielle, Beverley and Sarah) a postcard, there’s a special one in The Big Summer Challenge pack!
