It’s something none of us really want to think about. And one of those things that we think will never happen to us, but gynaecological cancer is something that all women should be aware of.
As with any cancer, early detection can make a huge difference. When we discuss gynaecological cancer we are talking about:
• Cervical
• Ovarian
• Vaginal
• Vulval
• Womb (uterus, endometrial or uterine)
You can find more information at www.eveappeal.org.uk regarding symptoms and signs. It is important that if you develop or are concerned about any of these symptoms or changes that you contact your doctor immediately.
We recently spoke to 'The Eve Appeal' about the work that they do and the developments in treatment of gynaecological cancers. Since 'The Eve Appeal' was set up 6 years ago it has contributed in a highly positive way. With its aim to raise awareness, contribute to campaign development and to make information available. 'The Eve Appeal' works in partnership with others to improve the healthcare and support of women and continues to work hard to help fund ground breaking research at The Department of Women’s Cancer based at University College, London. www.theeveappeal.org.uk
We felt, as mothers ourselves, that the information on 'The Eve Appeal' was very clear and concise, if each and every woman was to read this information it could and most probably would save lives. And as mothers, do we not have a responsibility to our family to keep ourselves healthy, as well as to ourselves!
